Hello everyone and welcome back to my blog!
Happy Sunday to you all! I’m back with another Skincare Sunday post because I just love writing them and sharing so many skincare tips with you all! Today’s post is all about how to reduce the appearance of wrinkles! It doesn’t matter whether you’re in the prime of your youth or have a little more life experience; our skin will eventually start to develop wrinkles – which is why it’s best to introduce anti-wrinkle creams sooner rather than later!
Fine lines and wrinkles are completely normal and some people like to embrace them which is absolutely fine, however some people like to reduce the appearance of them. If you’d like to avoid needles and other invasive surgeries, don’t panic, there are lots of natural ways to reduce the look of wrinkles; so let’s discuss different ways we can do this and I will also add links to products as well!
1 // Eat foods rich in antioxidants
Let’s start off with this because we need to eat the right fruit and veg for our skin as they naturally rejuvenate the skin’s barrier and also protect your skin from free radicals. Try and eat foods that are high in anti-inflammatory or antioxidant properties because they can improve the skin’s elasticity and protect against damage and premature aging. Foods with the highest antioxidant content include: Berries, Pecans, Oily Fish, Red Kidney Beans, Prunes & Cherries.
2 // Hydrate & Moisturise
Drinking water is essential for good health and water also helps to keep your skin healthy and hydrated from the inside so make sure you’re drinking plenty of water to ensure your skin stays well hydrated. When look for a moisturiser, try and find one that contains retinol and/or Vitamin C. These ingredients are effective at preventing wrinkles from forming or getting deeper. Retinoids encourage skin regeneration and help to promote the creation of new blood vessels, which improves the skin’s overall appearance and texture.
3 // Wear sunscreen
It’s no secret that exposure to the sun can damage your skin which leads to premature aging and wrinkles. Make sure you apply sunscreen everyday, even on days that are slightly dull – don’t skip on sunscreen just because it isn’t sunny!
4 // Relax
This may not seem like an important step to reducing wrinkles and fine lines but it really can make a difference. When you think about the facial movements such as frowning and squinting, this can speed up the formation of wrinkles, so relax your face more. If you feel stressed, there are several things you can do to relax, such as mindfulness, yoga and deep breathing exercises.
The important thing to take away from this is that wrinkles and fine lines are an inevitable part of aging, however there are steps you can take to slow their progress and prevent new ones from forming.
